    If you want to do something good for your teeth, eat natural foods such as wholemeal bread, raw vegetables, cereal dishes and fruit as often as possible. By chewing this "coarse food" vigorously, the saliva flows more abundantly and helps the teeth to clean themselves.

    • Teeth need hard things to chew, preferably at the end of a meal. A healthy breakfast therefore consists, for example, of crispbread or wholemeal bread with butter, sausage or cheese, combined with cucumber, tomato and salad, in addition to juicy fruit and a honey-free muesli.

    • In general, protein-rich but low-fat foods such as lentils, beans, cereals and lean meat and fish should be consumed. Fresh fruit and vegetables as well as milk and dairy products provide valuable vitamins and trace elements such as vitamin D and calcium. At least half of the daily food should be eaten uncooked as raw food.

    • Sweets should only be eaten with or directly after main meals, for example as a dessert. When it comes to dental health, it's better to eat a whole bar of chocolate at once than spread it out in pieces throughout the day

    You should also always drink plenty of fluids (preferably mineral water) to enhance the rinsing effect in the mouth. Food residues are thus better dissolved. If you want to prevent tooth decay with the help of food, you can drink green or black tea for a change. The tannins it contains inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause tooth decay.

    Cheese

    Cheese is also good for your teeth: the fat it contains creates a kind of "protective film" around your teeth and, thanks to its high calcium content, cheese also has a remineralizing effect.
