Dental implants can be a blessing
Dentures can be attached particularly well to the artificial tooth roots
If you need dentures such as dental bridges or prostheses, healthy neighboring teeth are often affected: The dentures are attached to them or they have to be ground down as supporting pillars. Dental implants usually offer you a better solution. These stable artificial tooth roots bond firmly to the jawbone and can support dentures very well. Another advantage: dental implants prevent jaw atrophy, which otherwise inevitably occurs after tooth loss. The smilin'' dental practice in Rheinfelden provides you with detailed information about dental implants below.

Dental implants are made of particularly durable alloys of the metal titanium. The implant intended for you is selected individually for the intended use. In the course of outpatient treatment in our practice, it is inserted into the jaw in place of the lost tooth. Over the following months, the dental implant grows firmly into the jawbone. The resulting "artificial tooth root" can then be used to screw the prosthesis directly and particularly stably into place. You can chew on them as if they were your natural teeth. Dental implants are also particularly durable - with good care they can last for many years, in some cases even decades.

Implants support the jawbone and thus prevent jaw problems and periodontitis
As artificial tooth roots, dental implants counteract jaw atrophy. After tooth loss, the jawbone otherwise recedes within a short time. With the removal of the tooth root, the affected bone section is missing the core element for its preservation. A weakened jawbone not only jeopardizes the stability of your existing teeth, it also promotes the progression of periodontitis - the most widespread dental disease today. In the long term, the appearance also suffers: bone loss can make your mouth look sunken.

Prevention of bone loss
Dental implants specifically counteract this. Just like natural tooth roots, they serve as anchor points for the bone and keep it intact. Implants therefore generally have a particularly favorable effect on your long-term dental health.
Dental implants can also be used to treat damaged areas where the jaw has already lost a significant amount of substance. Targeted bone augmentation can be used to prepare such regions of the dentition for implant placement. This is particularly often necessary in the upper jaw because the bone cover is thinner there. The subsequently inserted dental implant can then help the jawbone to maintain its health.

Insertion of implants
At the smilin'' dental practice in Rheinfelden, we are happy to use dental implants to support your flawless smile. An implant is inserted as follows:
-
Together with you, we prepare the implantation thoroughly. It is determined exactly where the implant(s) should be placed.
-
If you do not yet have a dental prosthesis that can be attached to the implants, we will work with you to plan the fabrication - tailored to your individual needs: a suitable dental bridge, an artificial dental crown or a dental prosthesis. The desired dentures are manufactured from scratch in our own dental laboratory by experienced dental technicians, and existing dentures can be prepared for implantation.
-
Before the treatment, let us know your wishes for anesthesia. Local anesthesia is a matter of course. On request, an artificial twilight sleep is also possible, so that you are practically unaware of the implant insertion.
-
We will insert the dental implants on the day of treatment. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, after which you can return home immediately. All dental implants inserted are given sterile covers so that they can grow in as undisturbed as possible.
-
The dental implants usually take between 2 and 3 months in the lower jaw and between 5 and 6 months in the upper jaw until they have firmly bonded to the bone. When the time has come, the dentures can be screwed to the dental implants, the stable artificial tooth roots. After final adjustments, your dentures are ready for immediate use.
Dental implants enable particularly high-quality aesthetic results. Dentures fitted in this way are practically indistinguishable from your natural teeth. With the support of regular professional dental cleanings, the implants remain long-lasting. Dental crowns, bridges or dentures attached to them also retain their attractive appearance.
